THE EDIT JOURNAL / MATERIAL

The character of a piece begins with texture.

The same silhouette feels different in suede, smooth leather and wool. Texture changes how the surface reflects light, how colour reads and how a piece works with other layers.

Suede: soft light.

The nap brings movement to the shade: it changes with the direction of light and touch. Look beyond colour and check the manufacturer’s care recommendations too.

Leather: line and surface.

Smooth leather brings out highlights and creases. Its feel depends on thickness, tanning, finish and construction — the material’s name alone is not enough.

Wool: volume and rhythm.

Wool fabric can look structured or relaxed. Weight, weave and lining matter as much as the wool percentage on the label. Always check the actual composition in the description of the specific piece.
